First off - Those socks I started during the Olympics. Hmmm. Ever had that feeling that something wasn't right? I like the toe up method because you can try on as you go. Once I got the leg established, I tried on the sock. Uggh, it was tight around the widest part of the ankle where the sock makes the transition. I just did feel like it would get looser. The icing on the cake was that the back part of the sock - the ribbing just didn't look right. I was doing a knit 1, purl 1 pattern. When in double go back and read the pattern. As I figured, I was doing it wrong, Should be knit 2, purl 1. The easy part was ripping out the leg. The hard part, was figuring out how to expand the leg opening. This took a little work but I was able to get it expanded and the stitches reloaded on the needles. With me, when I know something is not quite right with a project, I loose all desire to work on the project. Once I got this fixed problem fix, I now have a new desire to get these finished!
Here is the front of the sock. Its hard to get a good shot of the diamonds. The ridge down the middle of the diamond is created by knitting into the back of the stitch on every row. Too cool, never new that this would be the effect if done on one stitch only as you work the pattern.
I'm much happier with the ribbing. Knit 2, Purl 1 looks so much better that just Knit 1, Purl 1.
Here is the overall progress of the socks. I may even finish them this weekend. Positive thoughts!
